The counted cross-stitch image shown above is called Aunt Lucy's Place. It reminds my husband of an old homestead where he spent many happy hours as a child. Designed by Linda Meyers and originally called Autumn at Sinking Creek, it now hangs in our dining room. View a larger image of Aunt Lucy's Place.
"Our thanks to Verna Webster for rescuing the original Sarah Johnson sampler from her Oklahoma attic. Stitched in 1814 in Pennsylvania, the sampler traveled to Ohio with Sarah's family, then on to Oklahoma in the early 1920's. It was stretched and nailed to a wood board for framing, a common technique which often led to deterioration. Fortunately, no extensive damage was done to Sarah's lovely legacy. ~ American Cross Stitch, Inc. ~
This project was stitched on 14ct Aida - double matted and framed. The finished size is 17"x19."
