The counted cross-stitch image shown above is called Aunt Lucy's Place. It reminds my husband of an old homestead where he spent many happy hours as a child. Designed by Linda Meyers and originally called Autumn at Sinking Creek, it now hangs in our dining room. View a larger image of Aunt Lucy's Place.
This is one of my favorite charts to work as a wedding present. This one was done for my niece, Amy Wells. I normally work the project on 25 count Laguna or 28 ct Jobelin over two threads. The pattern appeared in the January/February 1984 issue of Just CrossStitch magazine. I've framed it in an oval dark cordovan color frame but have been using this cutout mat in a wood frame as shown below. The original as shown on the cover of the magazine was stitched on paper.
